On July 22, Jimmy McMikle was sworn in as the 35th Grand Polemarch [international president] of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., during its 86th Grand Chapter Meeting in Tampa, Florida.
“I am beyond humbled and honored to lead the Grand Board of Directors in service to Kappa Alpha Psi®, in service to our members, in service to our mission, and for the good of Kappa,” said McMikle, who previously served as Kappa’s Senior Grand Vice Polemarch [International Vice President].
McMikle is a Spring 1991 initiate of the Alpha Chapter at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He is the current president of the McMikle Group, LLC, a leadership training and development firm based in Hartford, Connecticut.
He previously served as the National Director of Organizational Effectiveness, during which he developed Kappa Alpha Psi’s five-year strategic plan (2021-2025). He chaired Kappa’s COVID-19 Task Force Committee, which developed the operational “way-forward” for the Fraternity during the global pandemic.

Also, McMikle chaired Kappa Alpha Psi’s National “Learn 2 Live” Social Justice Initiative, which has performed more than 140 forums in over 100 cities and has educated and trained more than 65,000 students, preparing them for police encounters and interactions.
McMikle succeeds Reuben A. Shelton III, Esq., who served as Grand Polemarch from 2019 to 2023.
“It has been an honor to lead this amazing organization over the last four years,” said Shelton. “I am confident in Mr. McMikle’s leadership as Kappa continues to grow and deliver strong value to our members, partners, and stakeholders.”
In addition to the Grand Polemarch, voting convention delegates chose the following Grand Chapter officers: Senior Grand Vice Polemarch –Robert L. Jenkins, Jr., Esq.; Junior Grand Vice Polemarch – Jordan Q. Smith; Grand Keeper of Records – Kevin D. Kyles; Grand Keeper of Exchequer – Rhen C. Bass, Sr., CPA; Grand Board of Directors – Damon O. Barry, Esq., Dr. Leonard E. Clemons and Jwyanza B. Watt; Grand Board of Directors – Undergraduate – Justin I. Nave, Amari M. Venzor and Brent C. White III; Grand Strategus – Tralyn L. Ball; Grand Lt. Strategus – Ryan I. Johnson; Grand Chapter Nominating Committee Chairman – Michael F. Brown; and Grand Historian – Kevin P. Scott.
“I am elated and excited to work with the new and re-elected members of the Grand Chapter leadership team,” said Kappa Alpha Psi International Headquarters Executive Director John F. Burrell.
“These hardworking, dedicated, and motivated men will provide a seamless transition to a new fraternal landscape as Kappa grows and impacts change. I know the 35th administration will continue to lead the Fraternity and make great strides in achievement.”
Grand Polemarch McMikle also announced the appointment of seven new Province Polemarchs [Regional Presidents]: Darren R. Adams (North Central Province); Shannon L. Armstrong, Sr. (Middle Western); C. Jerome Brown (Southwestern); Richard B. Mattox (Eastern); Theodore Sanchious, III (Northeastern); Lascel A. Webley, Jr. (Middle Eastern); and Donald L. Woolridge, Sr. (South Central) — to lead the Fraternity on the regional level.
The new Province Polemarchs begin their duties immediately. Province Polemarchs serve as chief administrative officers for each region. They are responsible for managing operations, oversight and programming of the region, and work closely with the Grand Board of Directors to implement the Fraternity’s strategic plan as well as the initiatives of the Grand Polemarch.
“As the first order of business at the helm of this great Fraternity, I am elated to appoint seven gentlemen to continue the growth and expansion of Kappa Alpha Psi®,” said McMikle.
“These men have worked tirelessly over the decades to help shape and support Kappa’s efforts locally, regionally and internationally, and I look forward to their partnership and contributions. I am grateful for the work of their predecessors. I am also excited to reappoint five Province Polemarchs to continue the great work they began in the last administration.”
Appointed by the Immediate Past Grand Polemarch, Reuben A. Shelton III, Esq. during the 34th administration, five Province Polemarchs: Marcus D. Bailey (East Central Province);
Jason M. Jones, Esq. (Southern); Michael L. Kinloch (Northern); Brian C. Mock (Southeastern); and Timothy C. Woods (Western) — were reappointed and will serve during Kappa Alpha Psi’s 35th administration.
