Similar to Spotify, Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove shared her own “wrapped” with highlights from her first term in Congress during her “118th Congress Wrapped” telephone town hall on Dec. 18.

The event, which drew an attendance of “18,357 Angelenos and Culver City residents,” offered a recap of her accomplishments, outlined future plans, and provided a forum for constituents’ questions.

Reflecting on a productive first term, Kamlager-Dove highlighted several significant achievements including the passage of her first piece of legislation into law, the successful launch of the Global Migration Caucus, and her leadership as co-chair of the Brazil Caucus. Notably, she secured the release of Eyvin Hernandez, a constituent held in a Venezuelan prison — an accomplishment she described as her proudest moment.

Additionally, she brought $13 million in federal funding to her district, supported community projects like Butterfly Haven’s Youth Housing Project, and helped constituents recover $4 million in refunds. As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, she addressed global issues by authoring a letter signed by 50 colleagues to bring attention to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

“Serving this district has been an honor, and I’m proud of the tangible results we’ve achieved together,” Kamlager-Dove stated.

Looking to the future, Kamlager-Dove emphasized her plans to pass her Summit of the Americas Act, expand funding for affordable housing, and continue bipartisan efforts to address migration and climate challenges. She also underscored her commitment to cultural diplomacy as Los Angeles prepares to host major global events including the Olympics, World Cup, and Super Bowl by 2028.

During the town hall, constituents raised questions on a wide range of topics from housing affordability to international relations. One caller voiced concerns about rising rent costs in Los Angeles prompting Kamlager-Dove to reaffirm her dedication to pushing for federal support for affordable housing initiatives and permanent housing solutions.

“I’m here to listen, to act, and to deliver results,” she said in response to a constituent who thanked her for her responsiveness on issues ranging from tax disputes to immigration challenges.

Another caller inquired about her position on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. Kamlager-Dove reiterated her support for postwar governance and reconstruction efforts in Gaza, while emphasizing the importance of freeing hostages and restoring stability in the region.

“It’s time to ramp down military operations in Gaza and prioritize a ceasefire deal that also frees the hostages and continues to push for aid into Gaza,” Kamlager-Dove commented.

As the 118th Congress concludes, Kamlager-Dove’s town hall served as a moment to reflect on her accomplishments and reaffirm her dedication to transparency, bipartisanship, and addressing her constituents’ needs.

On transparency, Kamlager-Dove stated: “We need to step in, pull back the curtain like in ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ and show the American people what’s really going on.”

Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove’s “118th Congress Wrapped” town hall highlighted her accomplishments and inspired confidence in the power of collective action during challenging political times.
