BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) Milwaukee Bucks coach Jason Kidd has donated more than $1 million for a men’s basketball scholarship with his former California program.
The 10-time NBA All-Star led the Golden Bears to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances during his two seasons as a player. He opted to stay home in the Bay Area to play his college basketball in Berkeley.
The university announced his contribution Wednesday for The Jason Kidd Scholarship, with athletic director Mike Williams calling it an “inspirational gift.”
Kidd said: “Cal has always been home. Growing up in the Bay Area and then being able to attend Cal, I had two of the most incredible years there and I’ve always taken pride in wearing the Cal shirt and being able to say I’m a Golden Bear.”
