From August 25 to August 27, Councilwoman Heather Hutt (CD10) hosted a free summer camp for children in her district between the ages of 6 and 12 years old. The camp was in partnership with Los Angeles Recreation & Parks.

The weekend-long excursion provided 60 children with the experience of a lifetime. Parents dropped off their children at the CD10 District Office after school on August 25, where they underwent a health screening before getting on the buses to head to Camp Hollywoodland (3200 Canyon Dr.).

While attending camp, children were introduced to various new activities such as archery, outdoor cooking, boat racing and rock climbing. Children then reunited with their parents on Sunday evening, August 27, back at the District Office.

“Our children are the future and deserve every experience under the sun to give them the tools to succeed,” said Hutt.

“It was truly heartwarming to see the joy on their faces as they experienced new things, made new memories, and built lasting friendships with other children in the District. I cannot wait to bring them back next year and carry on this tradition that means so much to the people of our community.”

Children participating in the free camp also received three meals each day and special camp t-shirts.
