Congresswoman Janice Hahn (CA-44) recently voted against a bill that would dismantle the Affordable Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood.  The legislation is the 62nd attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act and the 11th time in the 114th Congress alone to disrupt women’s access to affordable health care.

“It may be a new year but things don’t feel different here in Congress. The legislation we are voting on today is much of what we have seen before – the same old radical attacks on women’s access to health care and on the working families who finally have affordable health insurance,” said Congresswoman Hahn.  “Frankly this is an insulting waste of time when there are real problems Americans need Congress to deal with.”

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the legislation would take away health insurance from 22 million Americans including 1.3 million Californians and more than 500,000 in Los Angeles County alone.

The legislation would also defund Planned Parenthood for a year which would leave millions of American women without access to key preventative health services—including cancer screenings, well-woman exams, birth control and advice on family planning.
