The members of Greater Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church will salute Pastor Solomon and First Lady Isabell Drake on Sunday, September 27, at 8 a.m., 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The 33rd Love and Appreciation Services will acknowledge the spiritual leadership and contributions of the Drakes to the ministry and the Los Angeles community.
During Dr. Drake’s tenure, Greater Ebenezer has experienced continuous growth, as well as expanded the edifice, purchased additional properties, opened a pre-school, and established a state-of-the-art library. In addition, the portion of South Denker Avenue was designated as ‘Pastor Drake Square’ by the City of Los Angeles.
The theme of the salute is ‘Our Pastor Appointed, Anointed and Approved Holding Steadfast to the Profession of His Calling.’ The guests will be Pastor Larry D. Hooks and the congregation and choir of New Hope Baptist Church. Also, Greater Ebenezer members Brother Kenyon and Sister Les Tina Price, Deacon Errol Brown and Deaconess Theda Brown and Sister Erica Swift will deliver special tributes to Dr. and Lady Drake.
The program chairpersons are Deacon Thomas and Deaconess Eddie McCaskill, Sister Wilma Cotton and Sister McKenzie Hinton-Hardin.
“Pastor Drake, an anointed man of God, is a preacher, teacher and leader who has been called to deliver the uncompromising gospel to a lost world. We thank God for our pastor as he continues to point out to men, women, boys and girls that the way to salvation is that you must be born again,” said Greater Ebenezer member James McGhee.
“Near and dear to his heart are young people, always reminding them that there two things no one can take from you and that is the love of God and a good education.
“We are also blessed to have a beautiful first lady in Sister Drake, who exemplifies the traits of a virtuous woman who stands faithfully with her husband. She sets a positive example for women, always abiding in praise to God,” he added.
