Bishop Clement W. Fugh, presiding prelate of the 5th Episcopal District of the AME Church, announced the pastoral appointments for 2019-2020 at the close of the 95th Session of the Southern California Conference on Oct. 27.

The Rev. Roosevelt Lindsey, Jr., presiding elder of the L.A. South-Las Vegas District, was reappointed and also assigned to supply Bethel-Blythe. The Rev. Dr. Allen Williams, Sr.,  presiding elder of the L.A. North District, was also reappointed.

The assignment of new leaders included the Rev. Carolyn Baskin-Bell to First AME – Santa Monica, the Rev. Michael Carr to Holy Trinity-L.A., the Rev. Arthur B. Carter to Primm Tabernacle – Pomona, the Rev. Reuben Ford to Parks Chapel – San Fernando, the Rev. Rethis Murray to Allen Chapel – San Bernardino, the Rev. Dr. Godfrey Patterson to Second – L.A., and the Rev. Dr. Ralph Williamson to Christ Our Redeemer – Irvine.

Local reappointments included the Rev. J. Edgar Boyd to First – L.A., the Rev. Dr. Francine Brookins to Bethel-Fontana, the Rev. Nicolette Birdsong-Wilson to St. James – L.A., the Rev. Larry Campbell to First – Pasadena, the Rev. John Cager to Ward, the Rev. Dr. Kelvin Calloway to Bethel – L.A., the Rev. Michael Eagle to Grant-Long Beach, the Rev. Benjamin Hollins to Price Chapel – L.A., the Rev. Dwaine Jackson to Bryant Temple – L.A., the Rev. Tracey C. Johnson to Murph Chapel – Valinda, the Rev. Joyce Kitchens to Emmanuel-Turner – L.A., the Rev. Marvin McKenzie to Walker Temple – L.A., the Rev. Dr. Mary Minor to Brookins-Kirkland-L.A., the Rev. Dr. J. Arthur Rumph to Grant -L.A., the Rev. William Sheppard to Brown Memorial – Pasadena, the Rev. Kirkpatrick Tyler to St. Mark – L.A., and the Rev. Darryl Walker to New Philadelphia.

The conference was followed by the Fifth Episcopal District Planning Meeting, which included clergy and laity from 14 states west of the Mississippi River and Hawaii. The meeting was held Oct. 28-29 at the L.A. Airport Hilton Hotel.
