Daughter of the “The Greatest” Serves as Keynote
Over 400 people gathered together for an afternoon of inspiration and information at the South Coast Air Quality Management’s (SCAQMD) 4th Annual Martin Luther King Dr. Day of Service Forum at the California Science Center on January 14.
The event, free to the public, showcased an array of exciting speakers, musical entertainment and an opportunity to hear from keynote speaker, Maryum “May May” Ali, the eldest daughter of “The Greatest”—Muhammad Ali.
Ms. Ali spoke about the need for civic engagement during these times and the importance of listening to today’s youth and understanding their changing needs.
Featured performances included renowned actress and singer Eloise Laws, Grammy nominated vocalist Arnaé Batson,
“The Voice of Dr. King” Gerald Rivers, as well as select students from Today’s Fresh Charter School. Pat Prescott, of 94.7 FM The Wave, served as Mistress of Ceremonies.
SCAQMD Governing Board Members Dr. Clark E. Parker, Dr. Joseph K. Lyou and Judy Mitchell were in attendance, as was SCAQMD Executive Director, Wayne Nastri.
