After being approached by the E.J. Jackson Foundation last week, Los Angeles City Council President Herb J. Wesson agreed to step in for the late philanthropist to ensure South L.A. families are able to enjoy a warm meal together regardless of financial limitations. This holiday season, Wesson, together with the foundation, donated approximately 10,000 turkey dinners to seniors, veterans, and disabled members of the community. Joining him (above) were councilmen Curren Price and Marqueece Harris-Dawson and veteran actor Hal Williams.
Additionally, to ensure E.J. Jackson remains a pillar of the community for generations to come, Wesson named November 22 “E.J. Jackson Day” in Los Angeles.
