A beautiful celebration of classic automobiles brought Netflix “All American Actor” Kareem Grimes, along with community members, non-profit organizations, representatives, and city employees together at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall on Saturday, May 20.
The Office of the Tenth District in partnership with Councilmember Marqueece Harris Dawson, Embrace LA, LAPD, Community Build, Hood Muscle Cars, Autotopia LA, and the Black Classic Car Club hosted the LA Classic Hot Rod Car Show this weekend to celebrate, not only a love for class vehicles, but also to emphasize the importance of unity amongst the community.
The Car Show showcased a vibrant collection of classic muscle cars and hot rods, and members of the community had the opportunity to explore and appreciate the craftsmanship and dedication that went into preserving and rehabilitating each vehicle. The event was a true testament to the dedication of the men within the South Los Angeles community, and their unwavering commitment to their community and their history through automobiles.
Awards were given out to individuals for Best 1950s, 1960s, 1970s Automotives. Actor Kareem Grimes won the award for Best 1960s.
“Saturday’s Car Show was such a success!” said Councilwoman Heather Hutt, “The automobiles were truly a beautiful showing of the history and craftsmanship of our City and our Community. Our event was more than just about the glamorization of cars, it’s important to me to make sure our community has events where we are coming together to bond, make memories, and build lasting relationships.”
