It is with a heavy heart and tremendous sadness that we report the death of Bank of America/Merrill Lynch Senior Vice President, Head of Global Women’s and Under-represented Talent Strategy Global Human Resources Michelle Avan.

“Michelle was a dear friend and dedicated warrior for our community, and a dear friend to me and my entire family. This news is just devastating,” stated Danny J. Bakewell, Sr – Executive Publisher of the Los Angeles Sentinel.

According to My News L.A., Los Angeles police officers responded to a call at approximately 7 a.m.  A family member reported that they could not reach Avan,  the previously noted source mentioned the police report. Law enforcement entered Avan’s residence in Reseda, California, to find her unresponsive. Paramedics arrived and declared Ms. Avan deceased at the scene.

My News L.A. reported the exact cause of death has yet to be uncovered; the police released notes stating that there appeared to be significant trauma to the victim’s face.

Reenlisting a quote from the aforementioned report, “Anyone with information is asked to call LAPD Valley Bureau homicide detectives at 818-374-9550. Calls made during non-business hours or on weekends should be made to 877-527-3247.”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her children, her family, her colleagues at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, and her community of friends who are all devastated by this loss.
