The Committee For Racial Justice (CRJ) will hold its monthly workshop on Sunday, August 4, at 6 p.m., at the Thelma Terry Building in Virginia Avenue Park located at 2200 Virginia Ave., in Santa Monica.

Pastor Cue Jn-Marie, Isabel Storey, and Darrell Goode will address the gathering. Jn-Marie is the founder of The Row LA, also known as The Church Without Walls, which serves the homeless of Downtown L.A.’s Skid Row. He is also active in Creating Justice.LA and Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE) along with other grass roots organizations.

Storey will update attendees on Proposition 6, one of the recommendations of the California Reparations Task Force on this year’s ballot. She’ll also discuss Proposition 32 – Living Wage Act, Proposition 33 – Justice for Renters Act, and L.A. county’s proposition on Affordable Housing, Homelessness Solutions and Prevention.
Goode, president of the NAACP Santa Monica/Venice Branch and NAACP Southwest Area Director for branches in L.A. County, will emphasize the importance of the upcoming election, threats of voter suppression, and other issues of concern to the NAACP. A retired academic administrator at Santa Monica Community College, he also served as an advisor and consultant to the nationals College Board for Community Colleges.
