Rev. Dr. Arthur Chang of Founder’s Church of Religious Science will receive a rare second doctorate from Centers for Spiritual Living (formerly Church of Religious Science). His new degree, Doctor of Religious Science, will be conferred on February 27 in an academic convocation in Golden, Colorado.
The Doctor of Religious Science honorary degree is given to ministers who have served in an exemplary way and contributed seminal writings to advance the philosophy. Dr. Chang is currently serving as the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Science of Mind Foundation.
Chang has written extensively on the correlation of process theology and positive psychology with the Science of Mind philosophy which is the core of the Religious Science teachings. He has also led Founder’s Church into a new phase of community engagement and service.
Later this year, Chang will receive the Torchbearer of New Thought from the International New Thought Alliance (INTA) during their 102nd Annual World Congress in July where he is the keynote speaker. The award is presented annually in recognition of the outstanding major contribution of the recipient to the world of New Thought.
Dr. Chang said, “These honors, though personal at one level, are mostly communal at the more important and real level. This is because they do not so much celebrate an individual’s attainment, as they obligate such an individual to take God’s work to an even higher level for helping his or her community to become more fulfilled in what is best for all. This is a positive thriving that never loses its faith or optimism in the unfolding destiny and ultimate legacy of what is best in the human spirit.”
