Opal Faye was born in Palestine, Texas to Amanda Lenora and Paris Watson Daniels. Opal Faye is a 1947 graduate of Jordan High School, Los Angeles. After graduating from Jordan High School she married Booker T.L. Johnson.
Opal Faye had an illustrious career in sales. Working at Pierson Fabric Store in downtown Compton she demonstrated excellent skills in sales. She went on to the May Company in the downtown Los Angeles store. She was often recognized as top sales person and awarded for obtaining the highest number of May Company credit applications before retiring.
She was a longtime member of Grant AME Church on Central Avenue in Watts, California until her health condition prevented her attendance.
She leaves and blesses with precious memories her sister, Ola Maye West; nieces Dr. Gay Brown (Fred) and daughter Loren Tejeda (Kaylee); Attorney Joy C. West; Joli R. West (Torrance, Sr.) and children Torrance, Jr, (TJ), Abrielle & Orrlando Johnson; Shirley and Dr. Ojeka Omeridgbo and a host of relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
