Stack your playlist with your favorite holiday music and get ready to join Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson and the Council District Eight team for South L.A.’s Fifth Annual It’s Lit! holiday celebration on Saturday, November 19, at Century Boulevard and Broadway Avenue. It will be a day of music, community talent, snow play, and fun!
From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., kids and those who are kids at heart can play in the snow at the Snow Village, and children and adults can visit the Resource Fair. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the KJLH Radio Free Choir will deliver a gospel spin on familiar holiday songs.
Community talent will be on display with the Watts Learning Center Dance Team, the Lock High School Marching Band and the Alliance Burton Tech Performance Drill Team entertaining the crowd. Following the count down to the lighting the tree, Santa will make an appearance and take photos with those in attendance.
Collaborators of the event are LADWP, the Southeast Neighborhood Council, Community Coalition, LAPD, LAFD, New Prospect Baptist Church, Alliance Judy Ivie Burton Technology Academy High School, and Alain LeRoy Locke College Preparatory Academy. Also, AT&T contributes a significant donation.
