Healthy African American Families presents “Autism Spectrum Disorders: What We Need to Know” on March 17, at 8 a.m., at Holman United Methodist Church, 3320 W. Adams Blvd., in Los Angeles. The Rev. Kelvin Sauls is the host pastor. Topics include advocacy, collaboration strategies and special education law. Zoe Christian Fellowship sponsors a Community Health and Fitness Fair on March 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 5315 W. Adams Blvd., in Los Angeles, said Bishop Frank Stewart. Dr. Romeo Brooks of Roots Nutrition in Inglewood will discuss the benefits of good nutrition and fitness. Walking in the Spirit Ministries of Norwalk, CA celebrates its 9th anniversary on March 26, at 11 a.m., at the Doubletree Hotel’s Sonoma Grill, 13111 Sycamore Drive in Norwalk, Pastors Tim and Leshia Brooks. Breakfast will be served. The ministry provides free meals to those in need. Last year, they distributed more than 1,000 meals for those in need.

AME Southern California Conference Women In Ministry sponsors the Reverend Jarena Lee Prayer Breakfast on April 8, at 9:30 a.m., at  the Carson Community Center, said the Rev. Dr. Charolyn J. Jones, coordinator. The guest speaker is Bishop Clement W. Fugh, presiding prelate of the 5th Episcopal District of the AME Church. Also, he will be honored for his support of women preachers. Other honorees are Pastor Mark and the Rev. Mia Whitlock of Christ Our Redeemer AME Church – Irvine for generosity, Pastor Joyce Kitchen of Emmanuel Turner AME Church – Los Angeles for prayer, and the Rev. Annie C. Watson, retired, for wisdom. Pleasant Hills Baptist Church plans a Spring Tea on April 8, at 2 p.m., at 2009 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., in Los Angeles, said Pastor Sylvester Washington and Coordinator Dolores Jones. Trinity Baptist Church hosts gospel legend Richard Smallwood in concert on April 9, at 6:30 p.m., at 2040 W. Jefferson Blvd., in Los Angeles, said Pastor Alvin Tunstill, Jr. The event is part of Trinity’s 100th anniversary celebration. The concert by Trinity’s Mass Choir directed by Roland Hamilton and the Contemporary Adults of the Gospel Music Workshop of America will also perform.
