Word of Life Christian Bookstore is collecting new pairs of socks for convalescent patients and the homeless. The campaign, which continues until Dec. 17, will assist Hyde Park Convalescent, Lotus Care Center, Help the Homeless Ministry and New Salvation Ministries. Donations can be deposited at 6321 West Blvd., in Los Angeles.

Brentwood Presbyterian Church plans “Scrooge,” an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” on Dec. 17, at 3 p.m., and Dec. 18, at 6 p.m., at 12000 San Vicente Blvd., in Los Angeles. Grant AME Church holds “Season Fest 2016” on Dec. 18, at 3 p.m., at 1129 Alamitos Ave., in Long Beach, said Pastor Michael W. Eagle, Sr. Grant AME choirs and guests will perform gospel, jazz and other holiday musical selections. The donation is $35. Children under age of 12 are free. Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church joins Bethel AME Church-LA in a joint Christmas Concert on Dec. 18, at 4 p.m., at 3719 W. Slauson Ave., in Los Angeles, said Pastor Mary S. Helen Diller Family Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2016 Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards for California teens. The $36,000 awards are given annually to up to 15 volunteers.  The deadline for nominations is Dec. 18. For information, visit dillerteenawards.org.
