The Los Angeles community is mourning the passing of Bishop Bennie Roberts Benbow who transitioned on Thursday, October 6, at the age of 95.
Bishop Benbow was the presiding prelate of the California Southwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. During his ministry, he founded the 88th Street Temple COGIC and New Light COGIC where he served as pastor.
The Jurisdictional Celebration of his life and legacy will be held on Thursday, October 11, at 88th Street Temple, 8825 South Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles. Bishop Benbow will lie in state from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by a memorial service.
On Friday, October 12, the National Celebration will be held at 88th Street Temple at 12 noon. From 9 a.m. to 12 noon, the bishop will lie in state. There will be no parting view.
