Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragán (CA-44) released the following statement after being sworn into the 118th Congress, as she begins her new role as chairwoman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
“This is a truly historic swearing-in day for Congress and Latino communities across the country,” said Barragán. “Today, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus proudly welcomes nine freshman Members to our now largest ever Caucus of 42 Members. We come together again this Congress committed to our vision to pass legislation, provide resources, and advocate for the Hispanic community, the largest minority population in our country.
“I look forward to working alongside our Members in the 118th Congress to address the needs and meet the challenges Latinos face every day, to give a voice to our diverse & dynamic communities, and to break down barriers and expand Latino representation across the nation,” she added.
