Close your eyes and imagine a clothing store pulling up to you on wheels. Now open your eyes. Allow us to introduce you to Hung Up Boutique.
From her online store to her mobile boutique, every weekend, business owner Sherika Nicole is spreading her urban threads through the streets of L.A., and getting women hung up on fashion.
“I knew one day I would own my own store. I didn’t know if it was going to be online, mobile or a store front, but God directed me in another direction,” said Sherika.
After six years in business and with the help of her business partner Andrea Rene, she is ready to network and introduce herself to new clients at the 11th annual Taste of Soul street festival.
“When you are a small business, you definitely have to put yourself out there and take chances in areas you might not usually take chances in,” said Sherika.
Sherika’s business specializes in women’s fashion. Whether you are stepping out for a girl’s night at the club or headed to a formal event, Hung Up Boutique carries attire for all occasions, making sure women look their best and stand out from the crowd.
“I never restock an item,” said Sherika. “Once it comes in a quantity, I won’t bring it back. I don’t want everybody to look alike. That’s what a lot of people like about shopping with me, they know they are not going to see it at a party.”
The business owner started off working a regular nine-to-five job in the entertainment industry. During that time, she was selling clothing and accessories out the trunk of her car. In 2011, she officially launched her website and began working on her mobile boutique.
Financial issues took a toll on the business owner, resulting in her being laid off her job.
“At that time I just stepped out on faith,” said Sherika. “I started redesigning that truck to my liking. I launched my opening for the mobile boutique and also started selling shoes [with my business partner Andrea] in 2014.”
What’s next for Hung up Boutique?
Sherika plans to work the mobile store full time and open a store front.
When she isn’t running her business, clients can find her spending time with her children, motivating young women at speaking engagements, and working her day job in the entertainment industry.
Come out Saturday, October 15th to “find a fabulous, fashionable selection of clothing and accessories for every taste and any budget.”
