As part of the construction of the aerial Aviation/Century Station for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Project, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) contractor Walsh/Shea Corridor Constructors (WSCC) will implement nightly directional closures on Century Boulevard in August to remove the wood framing (falsework) for the bridge.
Beginning, Monday, Aug. 1, a rotation of weekly full one-directional closures of Century Boulevard between Aviation Boulevard and Bellanca Avenue will occur Monday through Friday between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. No closures are scheduled for Saturday or Sunday nights.
The closures as scheduled are:
Aug. 1 through Aug. 6: all westbound lanes of Century Boulevard between Aviation and Bellanca will be closed.
Aug. 8 through August 13: all eastbound lanes of Century Boulevard between Aviation and Bellanca will be closed.
Aug. 15 through Aug. 20: all westbound lanes of Century Boulevard between Aviation and Bellanca will be closed.
Aug. 22 through Aug. 27: all eastbound lanes of Century Boulevard between Aviation and Bellanca will be closed.
All schedules above are dependent upon weather conditions. Emergency access will be maintained at all times. Metro and WSCC — as well as airport officials — will inform the public if the work switches directions on Century Boulevard earlier than scheduled.
Metro will detour traffic around the closure and Metro and Caltrans will install detour signage. The detours are:
When westbound Century Boulevard is closed, automobiles will be diverted north on Aviation Boulevard, west on West Arbor Vitae Street, south on Airport Boulevard and then west on Century Boulevard. Trucks will be directed to turn north on La Cienega Boulevard, west on West Arbor Vitae Street, south on Airport Boulevard, then west on Century Boulevard.
When eastbound Century Boulevard lanes are closed, all cars and trucks will be directed north on Airport Boulevard, east onto West Arbor Vitae Street, south on south on Aviation Boulevard and then east on Century Boulevard.
