Former L.A. economic chief to lead Design and Consulting Services Group in Los Angeles metro market
AECOM, a premier, fully integrated global infrastructure firm, announced today it has named Kelli Bernard to the position of chief executive for the Los Angeles metropolitan area for the firm’s design and consulting services group. Bernard will join the company in June.
As the overall leader of AECOM’s design and consulting business in Los Angeles, Bernard will be responsible for developing strategies to position and further expand the group’s robust portfolio of design and engineering work across the transportation, energy, environmental services, ports, aviation and water markets in Southern California.
“We are delighted to welcome Kelli to AECOM,” said Michael S. Burke, AECOM Chairman and CEO. “Kelli’s contributions to the economic vitality of Los Angeles, our hometown, are extensive. Her economic development expertise and deep relationships in the Southern California region will complement AECOM’s continuing efforts to deliver unrivaled infrastructure projects and programs that unlock opportunity and improve people’s lives.’’
“AECOM has been a long-time partner to many organizations and institutions helping Los Angeles become a world-class city and fulfilling the region’s economic potential,” said Bernard. “The city and region are just beginning their journey of re-imagination, and I look forward to leading AECOM’s local efforts in this vital role while delivering its integrated services to meet clients’ infrastructure and business needs.”
Most recently, Bernard served as the deputy mayor of economic development for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
In the city’s top economic post, Bernard championed business growth, economic development and job creation for Los Angeles. Prior to this, Bernard held senior economic development roles at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the largest municipal utility in the United States, and for Garcetti when he was Los Angeles City Council President. She sits on the board of Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust, a leading nonprofit working to create urban parks and gardens in Los Angeles.
AECOM has more than 2,000 employees in the Los Angeles and Southern California area.
