On this Veteran’s Day I honor and salute the brave men and women who have proudly served the United States of America, as well as those presently serving in the United States and around the world.

At the present time, there are more than 22 million Americans who have served in our Armed Forces providing safety and security for all of us here at home.  They volunteered their service to establish and preserve peace around the world and because of their service, America has maintained its prominence as one of the most powerful, free and prosperous of all.

While serving in the California Legislature I was proud to introduce Assembly Bill 188 which gave a property tax exemption to veterans and their unmarried surviving spouses. Now,as the Chairman of the California Board of Equalization, and on behalf of the 8 1/2 million Los Angeles County residents in the 4th District, I would like to thank all of our veterans for their selfless service and would like to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our county.

Happy Veterans Day!

Jerome E. Horton, Chairman

California Board of Equalization
