Conference highlights include immersive VR Experiences, multimedia activations and Coffee Chat networking opportunities with creative industry leaders
Los Angeles’ largest Black-owned and operated technology and entertainment conference returns for 2023 powered by TEC Leimert, a non-profit organization based in South Los Angeles that produces the annual Black to the Future conference that seeks to bridge the digital divide in underserved communities across the city, including South L.A.
The Black to the Future conference takes place in Leimert Park Village on Saturday, September 23, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and features creative industry-led panel discussions, immersive experiences, interactive digital activations, live musical performances, networking opportunities and more.
“We are bringing industry leaders and influencers into Leimert Park to unpack career pathways in this emerging digital economy,” said Rashidi Jones, T.E.C. Leimert co-founder.

- Young Professionals Brunch presented by the Russell Westbrook Foundation, L.A.
- Urban League Young Professionals and Otis College of Art and Design titled, Culture is Currency, a space for youth 18-28 years old to learn about opportunities in L.A.’s Creative Economy.
- Panel discussion on the impact of AI technology in the music industry, titled Rhythms and Algorithms,
- Panel discussion on Threads of Innovation that explores how technology is changing the way we produce, consume, and interact with fashion.
- Metaverse Hip Hop VR Experience celebrates Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary.
- Coffee Chat networking opportunities with creative industry leaders.
- Video Game Pitch Competition with Riot Games and Activision gaming studios.
- An interactive activation presented by the DJ software company Serato.
- TEC Leimert workforce development labs showcase
- A live performance by Top Dawg Entertainment rapper and songwriter, Ab-Soul
TEC Leimert workforce development labs include, Game Wizards SoLA (Video Game Industry Training), NXT LVL (Social Media Career Training), Audio Affect (music production training with Serato) and a soon to launch development lab focusing on sneaker design and fashion slated to launch later this year.
