Hydee Feldstein Soto, the leading candidate for L.A. City Attorney, issued the following statement on Wednesday, Nov. 16 :

“20 months ago I embarked on a campaign to help deliver a City that works for everyone. While ballots remain to be tallied, the current vote count and the steady margins give our team the confidence that I will have the great privilege of serving as your next Los Angeles City Attorney.

“It will be the honor of my lifetime to serve this City I love and have called home for decades, coincidentally as the first woman ever elected as Los Angeles City Attorney and the first Latina elected to any city-wide office in LA.  While the history and the victory are important, my focus is on working quickly to organize the team and an agenda to reflect your vote of confidence.

“As I mark this moment, I want to say thank you to the people of Los Angeles – from all across this great City – for your steadfast support throughout my campaign journey. I am grateful and honored that you have placed your trust in me and I will not let you down.

“I’m proud of our people-powered campaign that touched every part of Los Angeles.  To everyone who played a role on #TeamHydee – knocking doors, calling, texting, donating, hosting events, lending your platforms, rallying your neighbors, putting out lawn signs and banners and giving so generously of your time to educate me on the role and the responsibilities – I come to this office because of you and I will bring your LA story with me to work, every single day.

“This campaign was never about me.  I entered this race to help tackle the serious challenges we face as a community and to do my part to build a Los Angeles that works for everyone.  I am ready to make that promise a reality.  Working together, we can and we will.  ¡Si se puede y juntos siempre podemos adelantar!

“I look forward to starting my work  – thank you, Los Angeles!”
