102.3 KJLH and Taste of Soul are partnering again to heat up the October 15th festival’s music stage.
Danny Bakewell, Sr., Founder/Creator of Taste of Soul and Chairman of Bakewell Media, stated, “We are so excited to once again have KJLH as a radio partner for Taste of Soul. Both The Sentinel and KJLH are pillars in our community, both dedicated to providing our community with the absolute Very Best. Having the KJLH stage as a part of Taste of Soul is one of the traditions that our entire community looks forward to each and every year.”
KJLH has several exciting new vendors who will offer a range of great products and services along Crenshaw Blvd this year.
Chris Malone, KJLH Program Director said, “All of our community’s favorite on-air personalities will be on-site to ‘hype up’ the crowd, and we are thrilled to offer beloved artists who are important to our culture.”
Highlights of this year’s lineup include veteran soul singer Kenny Lattimore, whose Top 20 hits “Never Too Busy” and the Grammy-nominated “For You” helped earn him an NAACP Image Award in 1996 for Best New Artist. The Taste of Soul Music Stage will also feature R&B/hip-hop soul duo Ruff Endz, best known for their hit singles “No More” and “Someone to Love You.” Other dynamic artists who will grace the stage include Erica Campbell, Elijah Blake, and Noel Gourdin.
As Program Director of KJLH, Malone works diligently with his team to build a unique experience for all who attend Taste of Soul. Regular planning sessions ensure all aspects of event production are topnotch.
“We take feedback from our audience year-round to improve our service to the community and our signature events,” said Malone. “Taste of Soul connects KJLH with our most loyal listeners in our station’s backyard. Collectively, all media outlets here in Southern California pull together to promote and execute for what turns out to be a spectacular event for those who attend.”
Malone is a relatively recent Los Angeles transplant, but he is no stranger to Taste of Soul. “I’ve heard about Taste of Soul for many years,” Malone noted. “It’s truly one of the biggest outdoor festivals in the country with appeal that reaches far beyond Los Angeles. It’s an event that everyone around our KJLH office has talked about from the day I arrived. It’s really something that we’re looking forward to, now that we are back outdoors.”
