L.A. folks love the movies, and we love being outdoors, too. We get the best of both at Summer Movies in the Park, happening at all South LA Parks. And while we may show up for the movie and the fresh air, the benefits of strolling to the park and spending time with your neighbors last beyond the movie. The Council Office of Marqueece Harris-Dawson will supply the blanket and snacks, and the movie is free, making it the perfect summer activity for families and friends. Here are three reasons why you should show up.
Spending Time at a Local Park
1. Gives your brain a pause.
Being outside helps us let go of the week and gives us a break from the asphalt and concrete of our daily routines.
2. Let’s get social in real-time.
Going to Summer Movie Nights is a safe way to meet up with friends of all ages, gives you a chance to get to know our neighbors, and enhances community safety. Mask up! Be safe!
3. For the health of it.
Movies are just one part of park programming. So come back and take a walk, or a swim, or maybe a dance class. Meet up with friends to walk, play ball or soccer. The parks are fully staffed and programmed, and it’s all for you.
Movie night reservations are required due to COVID-19, and you can do that via Eventbrite here: http://cd8events.eventbrite.com/. So pack up the kids and head to your neighborhood park. Meet us on the baseball field; the movies begin at 7:00 pm.
