What is your name and what is the name of your ministry?
I am Rev. John Culpepper Jr. and the pastor of Holy St. Andrews Missionary Baptist Church. My nonprofit ministry is To God Be The Glory Outreach Ministries where we provide food and feeding to help people in need.
How long have you been in this ministry and how did you get started in it?
This ministry started in 2012 with the passing of the mantle of my father, Pastor John Culpepper, Sr., to me. I was blessed by the life experiences I received from him and my mother, who is a devoted Sunday School teacher and Bible class leader. They taught me to become a fighter and soldier for God by offering food, hope and love in genuine and individual manner that creates “an experience” for other members of society.
As a soldier for Lord God Almighty, it is an honor to be in uniform helping people, days, evenings, and nights and sacrificing family quality-time to make a life-changing victory in another’s life. I consider it my life’s work to help people.
What role has God played in your ministry?
I am continually led by the wisdom and commands of the Lord God Almighty. I serve an extra-ordinary God, who has chosen me who sees the people of God being misled, mistreated, misunderstood and decided to fight for them, and where their faith was insufficient, use that of his my own — becoming my most memorable life accomplishments.
What are some of your future goals?
Our mission is to expand our food and feeding program, especially for our youth in formative years, and our senior citizens, in addition to delivery of food to their home. We want to offer housing services to the homeless, elderly, veterans and women with children as well as clothes, shoes, hygiene packages and more. We also hope to provide classes on parenting, money management, job skills and computer training. Our counseling sessions would cover domestic violence prevention, substance abuse treatment and anger management.
What impact is your ministry having on the community?
The impact upon the community has been Bible-based church sermons, helping and guiding people to stand against the Devil and use their faith in our Lord God Almighty to protect us from evil in Christ Jesus Name. As the community recognizes evil could have been worse, but was not, this builds faith, ever stronger, raising a people of victimization to victorious lives and an abundant life.
Our ministry seeks to help people who need love, understanding and teachings about the Word of God to make wiser choices that will grow lives in a direction that has a flower on top and later comes into full bloom. I call this work “planting seeds” in the lives of people outside of my immediate family network.
How can others get involved in your ministry?
Contributions are always welcome, whether it is financial or volunteering your time. To give some of your blessings to the people we serve means love, a verb that describes an act. To love someone, you have to do something. My hope and dream is you will join me in helping people who are not able to help themselves and make a difference in their many lives.
