The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) celebrates National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week starting on November 6, 2017.
National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week was started in 1996 by the Humane Society of the United States as a way to acknowledge and promote the invaluable roles shelters play in the communities while encouraging the public to become acquainted with their local shelters and to learn how they can assist their lifesaving work.
DACC operates seven animal care centers (ACCs), located in the cities of: Agoura, Baldwin Park, Carson/Gardena, Castaic, Downey, Lancaster, and Palmdale. Our dedicated, compassionate employees and volunteers provide safe and humane care for animals that are lost or no longer wanted by their owners. They work tirelessly to reunite lost pets with their owners or find new homes for unwanted pets.
National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week is a perfect opportunity for you to become acquainted with your local animal care center and to help homeless pets.
Here are just a few ways to get involved:
• Adopt your next pet from one of our animal care centers.
• Become a fan! Follow DACC and your local animal care center on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
You can help us reach our goal of placing animals into new, forever homes by adopting today. Your kindness will be repaid countless times by the love and affection of your new family member. If you cannot adopt a pet now, you can always make life better for a loving animal by volunteering at one of our animal care centers.
