(Courtesy Photo) Marvin Sapp’s “Close” Reigns in Number One Spot as the Top Gospel Album Multiple award-winning Gospel music icon Marvin Sapp released his 11th solo album “Close” September 29, however, a few weeks into October, his album continues to see much success. According to Billboard.com, his album came in at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart (dated Oct. 21). In its first week (ending Oct. 5), it earned 5,000 equivalent album units, mostly from traditional album sales.” Sapp told Billboard, “It was a blessing.” Sapp is no stranger to coming in the top spot, with critically acclaimed single “Never Would Have Made it,” setting a record breaking history as the longest Gospel single to lead number one. Sapp collaborated with veteran music producer Rodney Jerkins, Kirk Franklin and R.
