Seniors announce their school picks and look forward to the future.
Verbum Dei recently held it’s 3rd National Commitment Day Ceremony on May 1st. This is also the day when most colleges issue their deadline for incoming, admitted high school seniors to commit to the university.
The Senior Class of 2011 has worked hard to make sure their college applications were completed and ready to go to some of the best institutions in the country. For the last four years, Verbum Dei has held a 100% success rate of sending graduating seniors to college.
Between 2009 and 2010, 70% of graduating seniors have gone on to four-year universities. This year, 77% of the 2011 class will be attending four-year universities. Some of the institutions include: Howard University, Georgetown University, University of California, Los Angeles, United States Military and many other institutions.
For the past two years, Verbum Dei has made it a tradition to have seniors announce at the ceremony, before the school community, which college they intend on attending in the fall semester.
On Friday, May 6th, Verbum Dei Families, benefactors and Corporate Work Study Partners joined together in our Multi-Purpose Room. The Senior Class entered the room to a standing ovation. Each student had his turn in announcing the school of their choice.
“We take great pride in this special day and wish all of our Senior Class the best of luck on their future endeavors,” stated Verbum Dei. “We are so pleased at the group of schools that have offered our Eagles admission for the upcoming fall.”
