The Celebration Dilemma

By Minister Jabari Steward, Worship Director

Saddleback Church of Anaheim

Here’s the dilemma. You plan a huge celebration for someone who has never been to your home.

You’ve invited all their friends and family to come and help you celebrate this individual on this wonderful day. You spared no expense. Decorations are first class and the gifts you purchased are top of the line.

You email your special guest the directions to your home. They see the email in their inbox, but because of their schedule, fail to open it. Instead they ask directions to your home from a person who does not even know where you live.

The celebration day comes, but your guest never arrives. Years go by. The gifts and decorations are long gone. The occasion is now a sad memory for you.

One day, you happen to bump into one another and the person who was to be your celebrated guest is furious with you because they could not find your house. They angrily explain to you that they did not show up because they received incorrect directions to your home. You begin to share your heart on the matter, but you are rudely interrupted and they blame you for the mix up, demanding that they receive their gifts.

There is a celebration set for all of us with gifts, food, and decorations that will blow our minds! It is the day our physical bodies shut down and Our Creator, God and His Son, Jesus Christ, welcomes us into His Kingdom. There, we will be celebrated as we walk around Paradise, through the Holy City, and as we approach The Throne of God.

Will you be there for your celebration? My sister, my brother, all roads do not lead to Heaven. In order to get to Our Creators Home we must receive directions from Him and have an invitation in hand when we arrive. We can’t receive directions to God’s home from someone who has never been there.

The good news is that Jesus is the only One Who sees The Father face to face. He told us that He is going away to prepare a place for us in His Father’s Kingdom. That’s good news! Jesus is The Way to Our Father’s Home. Not only has He given us an invitation in His Word, He has also paid the price of admission through His blood shed.

Nothing imperfect can enter into God’s Home. When we receive Jesus in our hearts and live according to His precepts and commands, we are made perfect. We are made perfect, not in the sight of man, but in the eyes of God. Jesus has taken our sin upon Himself so we can wear His righteousness. It’s not about our good works. However our right standing with God is given to us as a free gift. It’s a win-win situation.

Ask Jesus to come into your life. Allow Him to do your life His way. Receive Him as your Lord and Savior now.
