Construction is well underway at the “Jefferson Square” affordable housing project.  Completion is expected in the fall of this year.

Council President Herb Wesson says that he is pleased with the progress of the construction of “Jefferson Square,” the new 40-unit affordable housing project at Jefferson Boulevard and 4th Avenue in the 10th Council District.

Wesson and his office worked to facilitate the construction of the $15 million project which is being developed by Thomas Safran & Associates.

“Construction is still on target for completion by late October or early November,” said Wesson.  “Tenants should be able to move in soon thereafter.”

In early March of this year, approximately 4,000 applications were completed and returned of the11, 500 which were distributed at the site.  A lottery will be held in next two to three months, as part of the qualification process.

“There has never been a greater need for more affordable housing,” said Wesson.  “This project helps us address that need.”
