City Council President Herb Wesson and City Controller Ron Galperin address community meeting on accessing data on city finances

Council President Herb Wesson and City Controller Ron Galperin recently held a community meeting to announce and demonstrate “ControlPanelLA,” the city’s first open data portal, which is a window into the city’s finances.

Held at Wesson’s 10th Council District Field Office, Wesson and Galperin demonstrated to a crowd of area residents and stakeholders how City Controller Galperin’s new website is capable of making available a large array of data concerning how the City of Los Angeles spends its money.

“I am very impressed with the work that Controller Galperin has done in providing an accessible way for the general public learn and understand how many of the functions of city government are financed,” said Wesson.  “An informed public is an empowered public.”

As City Controller, Ron Galperin is charged by the City Charter to be the chief auditor and general accountant for the City of Los Angeles.  The Controller’s website can be accessed at: www.controllerdata.lacity.org
