WBSC Convenes Mid-Winter Board Meeting

The Western Baptist State Convention (WBSC) opens its Mid-Winter Board Meeting on Saturday, March 2, and continuing Monday, March 4 through Friday, March 8, at Full Gospel Baptist Church, 6900 Compton Avenue in Los Angeles.

“All roads lead to our Mid-Winter Board Meeting for God’s profound word, the finest in worship, singing, and praise, and a range of events designed to meet the needs of all age groups,” said WBSC President J. Benjamin Hardwick, pastor of Praises of Zion Baptist Church.

Directing activities will be President Hardwick, Dr. Richard D. Sanders, vice president at large; Dr. Marvis L. Davis, Sr., vice president; Dr. David Green, vice president; the Rev. Reginald Payne, vice president; Dr. Joseph Foxworth, executive secretary; Dr. Patrick D. Ross, treasurer; the Rev. Tyrone Skinner, president of the Congress of Christian Education; and the Rev. Michael Fisher, president of the Young Adult Convention. The Rev. Reginald Payne is the host pastor.

The Young People’s Department will meet on March 2. The Laymen Auxiliary will gather on March 4 with male choirs performing at the Grand Musical at 7 p.m. On March 5, the Board Meeting officially opens and the Rev. Renandez Grim of Good Shepherd Baptist Church will preach. Vice President Sanders of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church will bring the Word at the Ushers/First Aiders session at 6:30 p.m.

The Laymen Session on March 6 features preaching by Vice President Davis of New Bethel Baptist Church and the Rev. Gregory McClain, Sr., of First Bethany Missionary Baptist Church at the evening service.

On March 7, the Women’s Department will present the Rev. Ivan Pitts of Second Baptist Church in Santa Ana and honor WBSC First Lady Thelma Hardwick at its fellowship luncheon at 1:30 p.m., with preaching by the Rev. Shane B. Scott of Macedonia Baptist Church. At 7 p.m., the Rev. John W. Ralph of New Horizon Baptist Church in San Diego will preach.

Events conclude on March 8 with the Moderator’s Period with the Rev. Tyrone Skinner of Metropolitan Baptist Church, the Young Adult Convention led by President Fisher of Greater Zion Church Family, preaching by the Rev. Jacob Johnson of Growing Valley Baptist Church in Lancaster, and music by the Praises of Zion and Greater Zion Young Adult Choirs.
