The Sarah Allen Women’s Missionary Society (WMS) of Walker Temple A.M.E. Church will host ‘Generations of Sisters – Keeping the Unity of the Spirit’ events this weekend to celebrate ministers and lay committed to God.

“Our WMS will present two uplifting programs with dynamic speakers that will edify and enlighten both women and men, and we encourage the public to join us for both events,” said Pastor Cedric V. Alexander.

“On Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m., we will have a prayer breakfast at the Port of Call Restaurant located at 1199 Nagoya Way at Harbor Berth 76 in San Pedro. Our celebration continues on Sunday, May 29, with the Annual Missionary Day service at 11 a.m.,” he said.

Highlighting the prayer breakfast will be four women offering different generational perspectives on the theme, ‘Keeping the Unity of the Spirit,’ which is based on Ephesians 4:1-3. The mistress of ceremonies will be Rev. Felicia Bagneris, coordinator of the A.M.E. Church Southern California Conference Women in Ministry.

WMS President Brenda Ludgood said, “We are expecting this to be a spirit-filled and enjoyable occasion. Sister Murcedes Outlaw of Flawless in Christ Ministries will represent the “Joshua” generation. Minister Teresa Lawrence from Rose of Sharon A.M.E. Church will symbolize the “Mid-Life” generation.

“Rev. Edna Stafford of Second A.M.E. Church will address the “Seasoned” generation and Rev. Carolyn Baskin-Bell, pastor of Rose of Sharon, will summarize it all as the Holy Spirit leads and guides her.”

Program Coordinator Connie Anthony added, “Tickets are still available and we urge anyone who wishes to be blessed to give us a call.”

At the Sunday service, the guest speaker will be Dr. Kaye C. Lindsey, first lady of the Los Angeles – San Diego – Las Vegas District of the Southern California Conference of the A.M.E. Church. The wife of Presiding Elder Roosevelt Lindsey, Dr. Lindsey is Operations Vice President for State Farm Insurance Company’s California Zone. She received her degree in business management from Pacific Christian College and her law degree from Western State University of Law.

Walker Temple is located at 2525 Trinity Street in Los Angeles. For information, call (213) 747-7454.
