Urban Driver: 2010 Tahoe 4WD Hybrid

The greening of the SUV is now in full bloom with the arrival of the 2010 Tahoe Hybrid. The Tahoe  a longtime favorite of sports utility aficionados is ready to move you around Southern California in style and comfort with an estimated, yes that right, 21 mpg in city driving.

The Tahoe looks smart but not overdesigned. It’s got strong lines and the finish can be enhanced by adding your favorite tint coat like Red Jewel. It boldly stands out from the crowd weighing in around 7,300 lbs, and comes standard with 18” aluminum wheels and 18” all season tires. It’s equipped with assist steps, fixed glass lift gate, power heated outside mirrors, Solar Ray deep-tinted glass, and what’s become a necessity, ultrasonic rear park assist.

The cabin is well-appointed and laid out for driver comfort and control. Leather-appointed heated front bucket seats with 6-way power settings, adjust for driver comfort, the second row is a 60/40 bench seat and a 3-passenger third row seat completes the seating configuration.  Additional features in clude Bluetooth phone connection, universal home remote, 115 volt power outlet and the driver information  center is visually quite attractive.

For audiophiles there is a Bose premium sound system with center point surround sound, X M Satellite radio service, and rear audio sound system controls. And for technophiles to enhance road trips, there is a navigation system with touch screen with CD player, hybrid flow display and USB port with XM NAV Traffic (free for first three years)

There is no drop off in performance with the advent of Hybrid technology.  The Tahoe Hybrid performs admirably in the city or on the highway. It’s powered by a 6.0L V8 SFI engine with active fuel control management in combination with a two-mode hybrid transmission and a hybrid propulsion electric with 300 volt energy storage system.  The technology while it is very 21st century, provides for energy efficiency without sacrificing power in any urban driving situation. The ride is super enhanced by GM’s “smooth ride suspension system”.

Safety & Security:

There is an added feeling of in control of the more than 3 ½ ton Tahoe with the 4-wheel disc anti-lock braking system and stabilizer –stability control traction control moving you safely down the road.

The Tahoe received 5-Star frontal and side crash governmental safety ratings. It features frontal airbags, head curtain side bags on all seating rows, child security locks, driver lock-out prevention, remote keyless entry, tire pressure monitoring system and one-year OnStar Directions with Automatic Crash Response and Turn-by-Turn Navigation. It also comes with an 8-year/100,000 mile hybrid component warranty for those wary of new technology.

Let the ride begin!!!!
