The Taste of Soul Family Festival has become Los Angeles’ largest street festival – bringing thousands of Angelenos together to celebrate all things “soulful”. From unforgettable food to incredible live entertainment, this daylong festival is a true representation of what makes Los Angeles great.
SEIU United Long Term Care Workers (ULTCW) is proud to be a sponsor of the 7th Annual Taste of Soul Family Festival and commends the hard work of all involved to bring this event to our community.
This year’s Taste of Soul also falls just two weeks out from November 6th – Election Day. As everyone will tell you, this year’s national election is the most important election in history. And while our community has come together to support the re-election of President Obama, we must also come together to vote on other issues that will impact our children’s education, public safety, and our ability to protect the middle class from extinction.
For the past several months, many of us have been working to educate voters on the importance of voting Yes on Proposition 30 and No on Proposition 32. By passing Proposition 30, our state will have the funding it needs avoid drastic cuts to education and other vital programs. By voting No on Proposition 32, we’re protecting our voices from being silenced by big corporations. Although the ads being run by the pro-32 campaign are deceiving, the truth is if Proposition 32 were to pass much of what we’ve worked for and gained as a community could be lost.
So what does the November 6th election, voting “Yes” on 30 and “No” on 32 have to do with the Taste of Soul? We know the power we generate when we come together. The Taste of Soul is the perfect example of that. It’s that same power we must show on Election Day by being sure our voices are heard at the ballot box. Vote on November 6th – our futures depend on it.
