CNS – One of two men convicted of murdering an Anaheim liquor store owner who was shot as he tried to run away was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Robert Quenton Feeney, 27, of Anaheim, was convicted of murder and the special circumstance allegations of murder during a robbery and during a burglary, said Farrah Emami of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. On Dec. 15, 2000, Feeney, along with co-defendant Raheem Abdul Edwards, 27, who is already serving a life term, entered the Lucky Seven Liquor Mart wearing hooded sweatshirts and gloves, Emami said.

Store owner Haeng Shin Kim, 57, was behind the counter but followed Edwards to the back of the store after the men put items on the counter, while Feeney walked outside to make sure no one was outside, Emami said. Feeney then went to the back of the store whether the others were, pulled a gun from the waistband of his pants and, while Kim began running to the front of the store, shot him in the back. When Kim began crawling to the door, Feeney walked up behind and shot him in the back of the head, Emami said.

As Feeney watched the door, Edward stole money from the register and both ran out when a customer pulled into the parking lot. Kim was pronounced dead at the scene, and the crime was captured on the store’s surveillance system. On Dec. 3, 2004, Feeney was arrested in Independence, Mo. on a probation violation related to Iowa sexual assault convictions. Detectives from the Anaheim Police Department interviewed Feeney in Missouri and he was returned to Orange County to face charges, Emami said.
