The Plea

Alfonzo Tucker

He wakes up afraid, fearful of the day’s tasks

He must support the child that was given to him by a lustful past

He must feed that child and provide shelter with positive contrast

Unfortunately his drug addition leads him down the wrong path

She gives birth for a third time at the age of sixteen

She is addicted to heroin which has afforded her as a mother the loss of parental responsibility.

His thoughts are to become a sober dependable man

Yet the streets dictate his next plan

What is easy for him is emotionally painful for others

He can sleep soundly after pulling a trigger, no remorse, never bothered

She has never heard the voice of that third child

She has never had the pleasure of shaping his personality

He tried to offer his son knowledge of a hustler and the key to these streets

What he lacks in conscience, was the cavity to his defeat

All days are filled with overwhelming obstacles, mindless objection to positive peace

In spite of their pessimistic view, I have managed to achieve

No excuse is to grand, no wall to high, no voice unclear to hear the message inside

If I do not continue to try, the hope of my addicted parents would be misconstrued as a waste of human life.

I know, without reservation, that the energy one possesses inside can defeat any notion that negates the possibility of success and dwelling within natural delight.

Perfection is not ideal yet reality will validate the actions your mind yields, be honest and your life will transcend to levels seemly unobtainable.
