Los Angeles, CA, August 25, 2014 – Los Angeles High School Romans 70’s Alumni Association hosted their first ALL CLASS Los Angeles High School – Blue and White Ball. The well attended event with over 400 guests was held Saturday, August 23rd which featured a weekend full of events.
A return to Los Angeles High for a “coffee cake” reception, campus tour and a panoramic picture of all alumni started the day which was proclaimed by the City of Los Angeles “ROMANS OF ALL DECADES DAY” …
The managing partner from the Cochran Law Firm, Brian T. Dunn and actor Dorien Wilson presented Kandee Lewis CEO of “The Positive Results Corporation” as recipient of the prestigious Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. Award for their work with youth in violence prevention.
Johnnie Cochran was the Valedictorian of the class of 1955 and well before he became the high profile attorney in the O.J. Simpson case, Cochran had a long established track record of public service and one of which was very dear to his alma mata was the Robert Ballou case, an 11th grader who was attending a “Soul Train” concert in 1972 at the Hollywood Palladium. Mr. Ballou was accosted outside the concert by over a dozen members of the newly formed “Crips” street gang, they demanded his leather jacket and he refused. The gang members attacked him, beating him to death.
There were also additional outstanding alumni of LAHS awarded with the Roman of Excellence Award from the association including:
