Senator Barack Obama smashes in the NC and pushes the tape…

in Indiana??!!!

Hell, yeah….

Here it is.

He has outraised money.

He has won more delegates.

He has won more states.

And last night, despite the numbers and predictions he almost won a mostly White Clintonian-profiled state.

Sometime during the 2000 election, John Bolton, Republican hard nosed operative showed up in Florida’s Tallahassee courthouse, swung open doors and uttered a Supreme court backed declaration “ I’m from the Bush Cheney Camp and I’ve come to stop the count….”

And when it was reported that the count did stop, the Democrats had no answer.

That is the difference. The Republican put their candidates into office. The Democrats hope their candidate wins.

It is time.

Senator Clinton is doggedly staying in the race. I’m not smart enough to know all of the factors she has released because of this. Truth is, I don’t care.

Really…I don’t.

See, I’m a regular guy. Not a word meister or poll genius or number cruncher. I am an everyday cat who negotiates my human condition; my daily appetites, my flaws and my strengths accordingly. To that point, I do have a degree and participate in a fair amount of reading…but I can’t for the life of me, figure out what a “working class” is.

99% of us work. Even Paris Hilton works at being a ho…

…okay that was unfair…

…no it wasn’t.

The homeless person on the street works very hard at surviving (don’t believe the “bum” narratives, street hustle is hard as hell).

Even the drug dealer. Yep, the lazy drug dealer, if he becomes successful enough he becomes a target and then must work to stay alive, unless of course he’s White and goes to San Diego State.

But I digress…

For some reason, Working Class is supposed to invoke some sort of “oneness” with the multitudes and their representatives. A kind of scripted “I’m just one of you”. It’s BS and not just because I’ve used a lot of quotation marks so far, but because in order for it to work we all have to assume that the stratified model of American capitalism doesn’t exist and, for the election, think communist.

Yeah I said it. Senator’s Clinton’s desperate jolt to the Working Class is a Lenin crossover. Somehow we are to believe that this privileged, once Republican minded, corporate lawyer, Governor’s Wife, First Lady and Senator isn’t elite. I would say that anyone worth 109 million is elite ANYWHERE. And Marx and Engels would agree with me. In fact, except for her gender, she is the model for the “ruling class” according to the Constitution.

This twisted syntax is a way for the Press and Clinton to say White folk without saying White folk. Because they identify Blacks and Latinos. Republicans and Independents. So just exactly who is the Democratic working class supposed to be? If we called the Working Class by its true names then the picture is a lil’ different. The labor intensive class. The undereducated class. The underpaid class which will never have wealth AND health care. The class which is being replaced by near slave labor wages and international corporate greed. The class who’s stock pays for the bonuses of corporate leaders when they walk off with hundreds of millions of dollars after running a company into the ground.

Now after reading that, who is a 109 million dollar Senator closer to? A corporate head or his driver?

From a Blog I did in the early days

If it’s just about money Barack has developed the largest cash bank in history. And he got it rather historically. By twos and fews from internet and home contributions.

THAT’S new school. That’s a grass roots mandate. Very close to how the SCLC did it backinda day…except for the Rockefeller money…but you get my point.

I’m not saying that Clinton shouldn’t have run and represented folk. But this common touch approach is way past it all. She is running because she thinks she should. And in that spirit she pushed for and got into this campaign. It is why she is still here. Because she believes that she is supposed to be. She has the provenance. Carpet Bagged back to New York. She played all the cards right. Didn’t go against the grain too much and was ordained as the shoe in for the Democratic Leadership last year when she and Bill were supposed to take the reins and reignite the party and the nation. Although being heralded as the future of the party, Barack Obama was supposed to wait and support her and we were all supposed to sing cumbyah ( I have no idea how to spell that) around a democratic campfire where Hillary would hold court.

However despite the suppositions…well here we are. And while tallying up more in every public contest, Senator Obama is the leader. But last night, behind all the entire race dumping the Clintons could muster and not be called a Republican, a very White Indiana almost gave it up to Senator Barack Obama. I don’t think that they are cool with Rev. Wright. They just don’t care.

Over and over again White bastions of Clintonian Democratic centralism have tilted for Barack leaving the Clintons fuming and words like Judas being thrown from their supporters. Even still Barack’s steady rise has left Clinton flailing in the political wind. She hasn’t yet found an answer to the straight ahead hope he inspires. First Senator Obama was too Pie in the Sky. Like calling him too optimistic. Then he had an unrealistic foreign policy. Talking to one’s enemies. Unless you’re fighting them, that’s all you do. Then running on one speech. And one vote. But oh what a speech and damn what a vote!

Once it was clear that his momentum wasn’t just a surge, the press began to ask “Why can’t he close the deal?”

Remember, Clinton was far ahead when this all started, so the real question should have been “Why has she lost the lead?”

Sidebar: The most curious thing about last night’s coverage was that the results from Indiana’s regional tally was missing up until 1am EST. IE no one in that area was given a clear number as to how the race was shaping up throughout the night.

What has all this shown us?

Closeted superdelegates

It means that the only thing separating Barack from total victory is the whim of the super delegates. Most of the political ones have held off until one candidate has received a mandate through votes.

Last night did that. Barack swept North Carolina and only lost Indiana by two.

The latest “me down wit y’all” Clinton pose didn’t take. Now Hillary’s only hope is to play for a delegate switcheroo where Michigan and Florida’s delegates mysteriously show back up in the deck. The Democratic leadership meets soon on that issue and Clinton has an 8 vote advantage in that room.

That is her gambit. To convince the leadership to back room the nomination. You and I need to make sure that this ain’t the way. We live in California. A state which went to Clinton. We cannot reverse the vote and shouldn’t, however we can show such support for an Obama candidacy that the supers feel like they have leverage. We can write and call and demonstrate to our representatives that the states super-dels feel freed up. Now is not the time to linger in a just vote mentality. Now is the time to make sure that the popular vote means something.

Talking is cool but action is predominating. We are in a state with one of the largest economies in the world. Immigrant and foreign economic policies directly touch us. We have industries across the board and resources of a small nation. We are Democratically driven but Republican lead. We are the future America moreso than Bush’s Texas or Cheney’s Wyoming. Believe it or not the Californian voice may be the largest mover of reason.

It seems crazy that I would call for any more from what is an extraordinary moment in history. Yet, my grandfather used to say that Black folk had to be 150% more than White folk, “Because they gonna take 50 just trying to tear you down…”.

Sen. Clinton has done that and up until last night, there seemed to be a glimmer of hope for that strategy. Now she has but one option to win…

By the way, the man who claims to have stopped the Florida count, John Bolton, went on to become the US Ambassador to the UN where he initiated one of the most disastrous UN strategies there in its history.

If given the chance, I wonder who’d Clinton appoint?
