The Los Angeles Lakers announced the team’s roster for the California Classic in Sacramento and MGM Resorts NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, highlighted by 2019 draftee Talen Horton-Tucker, along with South Bay Lakers’ Marcus Allen and Jeffrey Carroll.

The Baldwin Hills Champions baseball program has seen success recently. Their 10U and 13U baseball teams along with their 9U softball team won the City Championship. The Champions are a Parks and Recreation team who battle teams from Peck Park, Van Ness Park, and Rancho Cienega Park among others. Andre Green is the head coach of the Baldwin Hills Champions and has been coaching baseball for 46 years throughout the Los Angeles area. Schetema Nealy Becomes First African American Female to Earn Ph.D. in Chem from UNLV

Raised in San Bernardino, California by a single mom, with four other children, there wasn’t anything extraordinary about Schetema Nealy’s childhood, at least on the surface. Because, one would have to be at least a bit extraordinary to accomplish what she did recently, becoming the first African American female to receive a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Sentinel recently caught up with Nealy to talk about her accomplishment and how it came to be.

Lonzo Ball will make his Lakers preseason debut as he takes the court for the first time in 195 days that he will share with new teammate LeBron James on Wednesday night against the Golden State Warriors. B.B. King Museum Celebrates 10th Anniversary

In 1949, a fight broke out at a dance in Twist, Kansas. During the melee, a barrel filled with kerosene, that had been lit earlier to warm the party, was knocked over. As flames licked the dance floor, B.B. King, a twenty-something musician, escaped into the cool Kansas night with the rest of the party goers. But King had forgotten his guitar inside. On that fateful night, risking his life, he ran back into the building to rescue his prized instrument.
