The Nielsen Company and the Steve Harvey Morning Show use Fun Facts to get listeners to the Ninth Annual Steve Harvey Hoodie Awards
The Nielsen Company, a leading global provider of information and analytics around what consumers watch and buy, recently launched its second year of support of The Steve Harvey Morning Show (SHMS) by airing Fun Facts relating to the power of the multicultural consumer. As part of its You Matter campaign, new Nielsen Fun Facts will be revealed each Wednesday for the next ten weeks, highlighting interesting and dynamic statistics covering topics ranging from movie and television trends to cell phone usage. Listeners will have five days following the airing of that week’s Fun Fact to go online to www.steveharvey.com to participate in a poll pertaining to the week’s Fun Fact and register to win one of ten trips for two to the 2011 Hoodie Awards in Las Vegas. Since the inception of the promotion on Wednesday, April 6, the site has already seen 11,000 hits, with the number growing larger with each day.
“We are excited to use this multi-platform effort to show listeners how fun data can really be, and that their participation truly does matter and makes a difference, said Cheryl Pearson-McNeil, senior vice president, government relations and public affairs for The Nielsen Company. “This partnership gives us the opportunity to reach and engage the African American community, raising the level of awareness about the purchasing power of the multicultural consumer.”
The growing list of stars joining Steve Harvey for this year’s awards show weekend include musicians Eric Benet, Maze, Frankie Beverly and Faith Evans, as well as comedienne Sheryl Underwood. Various interactive activities will be offered throughout the weekend including a Midnight Comedy Jam, Charity Beach Party and the Nielsen-sponsored Hoodie Awards Expo.
