State Senator Price and Wright Endorse Hahn for Lieutenant Governor

Overwhelming majority of the Legislative Black Caucus sides with Hahn

State Senators Curren Price and Rod Wright today endorsed Janice Hahn for lieutenant governor. Hahn has now been endorsed by six of the eight members of the California Legislative Black Caucus, including Speaker Emeritus Karen Bass, the first African American woman in the U.S. to lead a state legislative chamber.

“Janice Hahn is my choice for Lieutenant Governor,” said Senator Price. “She stood with us in the fight to save the MLK hospital and is a proven voice for the underserved.”

“Janice Hahn is the only candidate for lieutenant governor that can ensure a victory in November over the Republicans,” said Wright. “I am voting for the Jerry and Janice ticket.”

“When we Democrats cast our votes this June, we need to ask ourselves who helps Jerry Brown more,” Hahn said. “I am the candidate that can reach out to communities that we need to get out the vote. These communities in voter-rich Southern California know my record, and will come out for a Jerry-Janice ticket.”

Price was first elected to the California State Assembly in 2006 to represent the 51st District, and was re-elected by an overwhelming margin to a second term in 2008. After serving one full term in the California State Assembly, Mr. Price was elected in a special election in May 2009, to represent the 26th District in the State Senate. The district includes a portion of Los Angeles, Culver City, Beverlywood, Hollywood, Koreatown, Ladera Heights, Larchmont, Leimert Park, View Park, and Vermont Hills.

Wright was elected to the State Senate in 2008, representing the 25th District, which covers the communities of Alondra Park, Athens, Compton, Gardena, Florence-Graham, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Ladera Heights, Lawndale, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Palos Verdes Peninsula, San Pedro, Watts, Westchester, Westmont, and Willowbrook. Wright also served three terms in the State Assembly, and was term-limited out in 2002.

Hahn also has been endorsed in the Democratic primary by the California Young Democrats, California Federation of Teachers, California Professional Firefighters, Communications Workers of America, Teamsters, Laborers International, EMILY’s List, National Organization for Women (NOW), National Women’s Political Caucus, Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), Los Angeles City Fire Department Chief Officers Association, Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association, Los Angeles Airport Police and Southern California Pipe Trades District Council 16, among many others.
