National Sales Network, an association of African American sales professionals, hosted a career/business development seminar presented by 1 Plus One Management Inc. last Saturday.

Called “Start, Sustain & Grow” the seminar was designed to enlighten and educate small business owners and sales professionals.  1 Plus One Management is best known for the successful Nix Financial and  The Playboy Jazz Festival’s marketing and advertising campaigns in radio and print media.

“You are your own brand,” said 1 Plus One Marketing Associate LaRita Shelby  during her presentation that focused on understanding that your own personal image exists alongside the company’s brand and should be treated separately.

The event was held inside the Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw Plaza, on the third floor of Macy’s inside the Museum of African American Art.  Those in attendance were surrounded by the historic imagery from the “90 Who Built L.A.” exhibit.

“I left with a renewed since of eagerness about running my business right,” said one small business owner who was in attendance.
