Watch Out…Operation Takeover!

Back again for the second time, giving the Sentinel another exclusive interview, comes a group so determined that nothing can get in their way of success: Statik Express, the group made up of all family and the first ones to steal the spotlight of Star Watch. So roll out the red carpet for the next pre-teen sensation! The team together brings into light eleven-year-old DeeDee, twelve-year-olds Maraury and Dami, and oldest of the group, thirteen-year-olds Yeek and Mali; but don’t let their ages fool you, they are more than ready to take over the entertainment industry.

The group came together about three years ago at a Christmas party when family members saw great potential in them as they all danced and sang together. Back then, they were destined to be actors and had no clue that a couple of years down the line that they would be forming a pop group. “I knew that they would be in the entertainment field,” explained Sari, part mom and part manager of the group. “Their personalities are big… and I feel like its God’s plan”!

Dancing and singing has been a part of their lives since forever, explains Sari, so it’s nothing to the teen group as they dance and sing their way up to the top. The group has just finished up their last independent promotional album entitled “Honor Roll!”. The album is full of positive songs that kids can relate to.

Their sound is pure with a message of power and motivation to all who listen. Entertaining is what they do and they won’t stop until they get the job done of fulfilling their own dreams, as they motivate others to do the same through their music. So don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing and dancing along to this teen pop group, just as I did! Just sitting down with them and finding out how determined they are about getting to the top was amazing. You can hear the hustle and determination in their voices as their eyes sparkled when they spoke about their dreams of becoming the next big thing.

These kids are ready more than ever. They believe in putting their education first, as they speak highly of education and getting theirs no matter how famous they get. One of the group’s ultimate dreams is to have their own show on Disney or Nickelodeon.

They are more involved in what they do than you would think. Working as an independent group, Statik Express does everything from promoting and selling their own CD’s, any and everywhere they can, to writing and choreographing their own music and dance routines. They have some help, of course, but it’s quite evident that they work very hard. More than ever, with the backbone and support coming from their number one fans…their parents/managers, there is no doubt that they are going to make it. “They are very passionate at what they do…they are an amazing force when together,” said “Momager” Sari.

The group understands that they will get a “no” every now and then, but they believe faithfully that every no is another opportunity. “When someone tells us no when we are trying to sell our CD’s, we just keep moving forward, keeping a positive attitude, said twelve-year-old Maraury.

Look out because the young pop group is taking over the Los Angeles area and leaving their mark wherever they go! The Young group was so inspired by Obama’s presidency that they traveled all the way to DC to see for themselves and celebrate with everyone else, but the work didn’t stop there. The hustle in them came out, as it always does. They took the celebration as a big opportunity to sell their CD’s! But traveling to high places such as Washington DC is not the only place Statik Express has expressed themselves. They have traveled everywhere from Las Vegas to Arizona to perform and sell their CD’s, even in their hometown of Los Angeles. Talk about going international! But that’s not it; check their status as a long resume of experience follows. They have performed everywhere from Los Angeles’s very own Taste of Soul to performing at middle schools to performing in front of A-list celebrities like Nick Cannon, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Will I Am, just to name a few.

So look out and keep your eyes open for Statik Express, as they are the next big thing! Smart, talented and ready to take over!
