Southwest Holds Workers’ Conference

The 55th Annual Worker’s Conference of the California Southwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ will convene on Tuesday, February 5 through Friday, February 8 at New Jerusalem COGIC, 420 South Santa Fe Avenue in Compton.

Dr. Hillrie Murphy is the Jurisdictional Bishop Designee, Mother Joan Walker is the Jurisdictional Supervisor of Women and Dr. William Atlas is the host pastor.

The theme is ‘Leading God’s Way Through Prayer, Obedience and the Word’ based on II Samuel 23:3.  Service begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Institute Hour led by Dr. Murphy and District Missionary Lula Clark followed by worship at 8 p.m.  Dr. Iris Stevenson and Evangelist Lillie Benbow Smarr will direct the music.

Women’s Day takes place on Thursday with Morning Glory Prayer at 10 a.m., Institute Hour at 6:30 p.m. and worship at 7:30 p.m. Supervisor Walker will deliver the message.  The theme is ‘Holiness is God’s Absolute Standard: Through Prayer, Obedience and the Word of God’ taken from 1 Peter 1:16, Hebrews 12:14 and Isaiah 35:8. 

Dr. Murphy will preach the official message on Friday. The public is welcome at all events.
