Tickets on Sale Now
The Southeast Symphony (SESA) will close its 2009-2010 Season with another spectacular concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2010 (the third Sunday in July). This benefit concert will be the third visit for the Southeast Symphony to the Disney Concert Hall in what has become a new tradition for the orchestra and our community. The Hall, an architectural landmark of our City, is recognized, as one of the world’s most acoustically perfect concert halls, and SESA is proud to claim it as a venue for our orchestra and our community.
The concert will feature “American Salute” by Morton Gould, “Symphonic Dances from West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein, “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” by Sergei Rachmaninoff, and “Peter and the Wolf” by Serge Prokofiev. SESA is delighted to feature film and television star Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Steve Harvey Show, The Game) as guest narrator for “Peter and the Wolf”.
The concert will also feature some of the finest young people from Greater Los Angeles in their Disney Hall debuts. Twenty-year old piano prodigy Nicholas King, an alumnus of Hamilton High School and currently a student at the Royal Academy of Music in Toronto, will perform “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini” with the orchestra, and students from the SESA Conservatory and the Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles will also join the SESA Orchestra for this performance.
The concert will also provide an opportunity for SESA to thank our retiring Congresswoman Diane Watson and Assembly Member Speaker Emeritus Karen Bass for their years of service to our community. Each of these outstanding leaders will be present to receive awards from SESA.
Tickets are available through the Southeast Symphony Office at 310-673-7372, or through the Walt Disney Concert Hall Box Office and from Ticketmaster.
