Service to others defines the ministry of Dr. Kathye D. Jenkins who works tirelessly to share resources, funding and information to those in need.
In honor of her efforts, the Gardena Valley and Vicinity Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows (GVVMWMW) Sisterhood Connection will salute Dr. Jenkins with a Presidential High Tea on Saturday, January 12, at 12 noon, at the Nakaoka Community Center, 1670 West 162nd Street in Gardena. The organization will also install officers for 2013-2015.
“Dr. Jenkins is committed to a personal ministry of civic engagement that equips others through empowerment and encouragement. She organized GVVMWMW in 2000 and established the Cynthia Perry Ray Foundation in 2001 as a nonprofit outreach to support our communities,” said General Chairperson Jennifer T. Boler.
In addition to community service, Dr. Jenkins is the First Lady of Abundant Grace Bible Church in Hawthorne led by the Rev. Dr. James A. Jenkins, Sr. A graduate of Biola University, she was recently elected president of the Interdenominational Ministers’ Wives and Widows Council of Los Angeles and Vicinity.
First Lady Kimberly Burgess, also a Biola University graduate, will be the new president of GVVMWMW. She is the wife of Pastor Gerald Burgess of First Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles.
“President-elect Burgess has already implemented plans and set goals to take this great Sisterhood to the next level. We praise God for her enthusiasm and pray for her success in continuing the vision of the visionary,” remarked Mrs. Boler.
